The Writer's Homicide School is back, the original and premier seminar as featured in Emmy Magazine and Suspense Magazine.

The Writer's Homicide School is an intensive two-day seminar that logically walks writers from beginning interrogations of a murder investigation. Using his experience of nearly two hundred murders, thousand of interrogations and decades of Southern California law enforcement, retired Sergeant Derek Pacifico will teach you, entertain you and bring you deep inside the world of police work and murder investigations.

From basic police procedures, rank structures, hiring practices, field training and other background information, after this seminar you will be better equipped to build a character or ensemble cast.

If you are writing crime, thrillers, mysteries or police procedural TV - this seminar is a MUST!

How Will This Help My Writing? You will learn:

  • About real cops from a real Homicide Detective
  • How a real murder investigation is conducted
  • How real interrogations are conducted from a nationwide expert who teaches real cops how to do it
  • How to read, interpret and therefore create a real crime scene
  • Authentic police nomenclatures, ideas and dialogue
  • How a murder trial really works
  • More about the law and police procedures than you can anywhere else!

Testimonials:

"Your class was amazing. The insight and clarity you provide on police procedure, interrogation techniques, and seemingly everything else connected with the committing and solving of a murder/homicide will make every writer's job infinitely easier. Your presentation is not only fun and informative, its also perfectly organized to help both the veteran and beginning writer understand both sides of the crime -- the investigative detective and the perp (east coast) or the suspect (west coast..Learned that in your seminar!). Thanks for everything." - Darrell Ray Thomas, Jr./ Emmy Award winning writer for Days of Our Lives

"The class was definitely an eye opener. It's amazing how we authors pen things incorrectly in our novels...I would recommend this class to any aspiring or published author writing genres where there are crime/murders and/or investigations and interrogations taking place. It's packed with real information, some of which will stun you." - Suspense Magazine, 2012

"Sgt. Pacifico is a truly talented speaker and gifted teacher. Sure, you can sit at home and learn about police procedure and investigation, but nothing compares to seeing and hearing the actual details of a murder case first hand. I had to cover my eyes for some of the photos but otherwise perfect! During the two day seminar, we were able to ask questions and discuss issues with a veteran homicide investigator and there aren't too many opportunities to do that. To spend this much time with police detectives, I would've had to commit a felony and get arrested!" - Carol Rotundo, Author

“Great unique class. There's nowhere else to get this quality information. Certainly not from a textbook.” - Stephen Myers, A.C.E.

"I cannot tell you how many times cops cringe at the technical inaccuracies offered up in movies and TV programs that depict Hollywood’s interpretation of the profession. It can be disgusting sometimes to watch. After meeting Derek and going through his program that day, I just knew this guy was a true professional. His program and technical expertise could make a difference with actors and writers in the way they portray the stories of law enforcement." - Dean Galvin, Author

“Great balance between a cops perspective and teacher personality. I had a lot of questions and was happy to have a non-threatening, non-judgmental environment in which to ask.” - Diane Vallere, author

“Derek’s whole presentation, his thorough knowledge, great depth of experience and great sense of humor was what I liked best about the class.” - Andrew Pierce, author and film editor

"Loved everything about the class. Thank you so much for this opportunity. I would love to be able to take another class taught by you in the near future." - Marjorie McCown, Author

"Derek, you could have sent me a gold brick wrapped in a thousand dollar bills but I wouldn't have liked it as much. Golden information. THANK YOU!" - Elaine Ashe, Author
