Low Price Guarantee

If, within 30 days of your specialty software purchase from The Writers Store, you find a legitimate competitor offering a lower price on an available product of the same brand and version, we'll not only refund the difference, we'll also give you an additional 10% of the difference. Provide us verification of the lower price, plus your original receipt to claim your refund. Does not apply to trade shows, bonuses or free offers.

Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters a great deal at The Writers Store. Any information you give us during the ordering process, whether online, by telephone, or at our Los Angeles location, will only ever be used to improve our services and your shopping experience.

Neither your physical nor email addresses will ever be sold or lent to another business.

The Writers Store may, from time to time, via U.S. Mail or email, notify you of product or industry news, based on previous product choices you may have made, and we may do co-mailings with other companies in your field of interest.

The Writers Store site uses cookies [information stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive] to improve navigation, and to save you from re-entering information each time you visit our store.

The Writers Store uses the latest encryption technology to keep your personal information safe. If you are not entirely at ease with this technology, you may place your orders by phone by calling our product consultants Monday through Saturday to place your orders.

Returns Policy

You may return within 30 days of delivery date for full refund [minus shipping & handling] the following items:

• Books in their original condition
• Unopened, shrink-wrapped products:
  Software, audiocassettes, CDs, VHS/PAL tapes and supplies in their original condition.

Exceptions:

• Software Products covered by a 30, 60 or 90 day Satisfaction Guarantee may be returned opened.
• Returned software must include ALL documentation (i.e. warranty cards, disks, manuals) and packaging materials. If any of these accompanying materials are damaged, written in, if the spine/bindings are broken, or show evidence of tampering, a restocking charge of 30% will be deducted from any refund.
• Copy-protected software must be de-installed and all manufacturer supplied installs must be present to receive a refund (see product documentation or call the manufacturer for instructions).
• Seminars, Workshops and Conference Admissions: Deposits are forfeited in their entirety if attendance is cancelled within 30 days prior to event – unless otherwise stated in course description.

Defective merchandise: If you believe you have received defective merchandise, contact the manufacturer for problem verification and replacement.

Packaging and Shipping your Return:

• Enclose the original sales receipt with a stated reason for the return.
• Pack your return items securely in the box they arrived in, or another box, which will return the items to us undamaged.
• Use a traceable insured method of return shipping

Refunds:
Product returned will be checked by the Customer Service Department for completeness and damage. Refunds minus applicable re-stocking fee and shipping costs as stated in our Returns Policy above will be credited only to the applicable card within five working days. Orders paid by check will have refund checks mailed within one week.

Returns Policy Considerations:
Please note that having a Returns Policy such as ours is expensive for both parties (us - credit card charges, accounting, return to manufacturer, etc., customer - shipping and handling, lost time, etc.). The only way we can continue this policy is to keep mistreatment such as buying software "just to see", piracy, etc. to a complete minimum. We want to make every effort to give you the information to choose the RIGHT product for your needs so don't hesitate to call or e-mail for product information, that's what we're here for. (Note: Our software vendors require us to submit customer data on all returned product.)

Your personal information is safeguarded with the latest encryption technology. Your account information [name, address, credit card number] is encrypted on a secure server for maximum security. The transmission of your credit card and billing information cannot be deciphered on its way to our ordering system. Our accounting system data is not accessible via the Internet.

Credit Card Safety

U.S. federal law dictates that you are not held liable for more than $50 of fraudulent charges. This rule applies to most credit card issuers.

Shipping Policy

Free Shipping:
The Writers Store supplies even more value when you reward us with your business. WEB orders to the 48 contiguous U.S. States with items marked as "Free Shipping" totaling $99 or more before tax (if applicable) will be shipped FREE via Federal Express ground or similar method!

Shipping & Handling Guidelines:
We use the commercial carrier Federal Express because of their timely service, insurance, and tracking services. Packages MUST be signed for. If the shipping address is different from the billing address you must include the shipping address phone number. We typically ship your order on the same day if received by 2PM, Pacific Standard Time, but please calculate the arrival of your package as follows:

Domestic Shipping Arrival Times:

• FedEx Ground Service - 48 contiguous U.S. States only / shipped within 48 hours of order / allow up to 7 business days to east coast.
• FedEx 2nd Business Day - U.S. States only / shipped within 48 hours of order / allow two business days from shipping date.
• FedEx Next Business Day - U.S. States only / shipped within 48 hours of order / allow one business day from shipping date.

Shipping Items with Different Usually Ships Times
When you purchase items with different availability - i.e. an item available for shipment within 24-48 hours and an item available for shipment within 1-2 weeks - you will have two options:

• Hold and ship everything together - This is our default method. This option has the lowest shipping costs by holding the shipment of your order until all items are available.
• Ship each item, as it is available - If you select this option, each item will be shipped to you as it becomes available. You will pay the shipping costs for each shipment. To select this method please note it in the comment field. When your item becomes available we will contact you with shipping cost before you are charged.

International Shipping Considerations:
International and US Possession shipping costs are varied by destination, weight and insured value. Choosing your country or US Possession from the pull down menu during ordering will calculate your shipping costs. If your country is not in our list please email your exact shipping address and product choices to our Sales Department and we will email back with your total amount including shipping costs for approval. Typical arrival times for international orders are 2-7 days.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We cannot calculate nor are we authorized to collect customs duties, VATs, and other local taxes. These charges are the responsibility of our international customers and typically due and collected upon receipt. In some cases customs authorities don't notify us of their charges until a much later date. In the event we are billed for any customs duties, VATs, or other local taxes, fees and duties we reserve the right to charge the party responsible for payment of the order should this occur. All documentation supporting these charges will be mailed to you via US airmail.

Terms of Sale

Payments:
We accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover/Novus, Diners Club, and American Express/Optima credit cards. All payments must be made in U.S. Dollars.

Sales Tax:
In accordance with applicable state law, we are required to charge sales tax to shipments within California where The Writers Store operates. Sales tax is applied to the total order amount, excluding shipping and handling charges.

No sales tax is charged on the purchase of Gift Certificates, Downloadable Products, Seminars, Courses or Script Services. Only shipped items are taxed.

Price Changes:
While prices are subject to change without notice, you will be notified for approval prior to shipping in case of an increase. Decrease or sale prices will automatically take effect.

Limitation of Liability:
The Writers Store will not be liable for indirect, special, or consequential damages (or any loss of revenue, profits, or data) arising in connection with the products or services covered by this Agreement even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Further, our aggregate liability arising with respect to this Agreement and the products and services will not exceed the total cost of the products and services minus applicable re-stocking fee and shipping costs as stated in our Return Policy and Shipping Policy.

Defective or Incomplete Merchandise

If you believe you have received defective merchandise, contact the manufacturer for problem verification and replacement. Defective merchandise can only be replaced by the manufacturer. Claims for incomplete or incorrect orders must be made within (5) business days of receipt, or acceptance of full delivery is assumed.
