Our Team
Jesse Douma, President of The Writers Store, has been active in the store's success for 21 of its 25 years. Since 1993 he has steered the company with fresh new concepts and ideas. He now leads the charge into the next generation of storytelling with an ever-advancing roster of services, books, software, events, group access, contests, seminars and workshops.

The consultants at The Writers Store, all writers and filmmakers themselves, are specially trained to guide clients to the perfect product for their needs.

Our History
The roots of The Writers Store can be traced back to Hollywood's desire for new technology. Founders Gabriele Meiringer and Dan Douma built a loyal customer base by customizing personal computer systems for screenwriters in the early 1980s, when scribes were still handwriting scripts, or pounding away at IBM Selectrics. Their small Writers' Computer Store location blossomed with the success of the personal computer into a thriving hub for writers and filmmakers, already providing world-wide mail-order services, training and support, a writer-oriented newsletter and special events geared towards Hollywood's creative set.
